Obituary

Alfred “Blaise” Cooke, 83, of Chicopee, passed away on Saturday, July 20. 2024. Son of the late John and Mary (Gouthro) Cooke, he was born in Reserve Mines, Nova Scotia, Canada on July 2, 1941. Blaise worked as a carpenter for many years and was the “go to” guy for family and friends, as he could fix virtually anything. He loved NASCAR, camping and sports, especially hockey. He and his buddies would frequently “road trip” to Montreal to watch the Bruins play the rival Canadians. He looked forward to his annual trips home to visit with family and friends.

Blaise is survived by his wife Anne (Barron) Cooke of Chicopee, his son Allan Cooke (Sharon) of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia and his daughter Brenda Smyth (Paul) of Abington. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren Kevin Smyth (Ciara), Scott Smyth (Kaitlyn) and Logan Cooke (Emma Wrathall) as well as 3 great-grandchildren Elle, Callen and Niamh. In addition to his parents , he was predeceased by his brothers Bill and Eric Cooke and his sisters Katherine Hughes and Leona Thomas.

Visiting hours for Blaise will be Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 10:00 AM-1:00 PM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, MA. Burial in Nova Scotia will be at a later date.
